Diagnosis: Acute leukemia, L2 (FAB)

Dear friends, funds collection for Nikolay Andriesh is officially closed!

Few days ago, we received a help request from Tatiana and Rodion Andriesh. Their son Nikolay was diagnosed with the acute leukemia.

Here is what Nikolay’s mom said in her letter: «Our son has been hospitalized since November 2011. Since then, he turned from a healthy and active boy into a helpless child. He feels nauseous, has constant headaches, and his legs and stomach are hurting him. The endless injections and chemotherapy now take the most of his time otherwise filled with joy and playing with his family. We miss him so much at home. Nikolay’s little sister Sanda, who is 2 years old, keeps asking for him over and over. But the most difficult part is to see our son sick and realize that we are helpless, too».

Initially, the pediatricians who examined Nikolay had looked at the appendicitis or stomach disease, and only later, the oncologists have confirmed terrifying diagnosis – cancer. Nikolay will need bone marrow transplantation, the procedure that is not performed in Moldova. The cost of the life-saving transplantation is 150,000 Euro which is enormously high for any family to collect.

We hope that you could help Nikolay who is going through unimaginable suffering. As any other child, he believes in miracles – let’s make this miracle happen!

Updates:
25.01.12: We have sent Nikolay’s file to the Russian charity fund Give Life and they are currently considering him for approval. We are hoping that Give Life will be able to support Nikolay. In the meantime, we have to be prepared to fundraise for his treatment.
