Anna Lashcova, 6 years old

Diagnose: Complicated Cerebral Palsy

Dear friends, funds collection for Anna Lashcova is officially closed!

Anna’s mom story:

Since I was 20 years old, I was dreaming of having a beautiful daughter. While walking with my friends and seeing young mom’s with strollers, I was very jealous and imagining how I will love and take care of my baby. In a few years I married and became pregnant. My pregnancy was calm, I was visiting my doctors regularly. At five months, doctor told us that I will have a daughter, and immediately we decided to name her Anna. Two weeks before delivery, I was hospitalized due to unexpected high blood pressure and heart pains. Delivery was very complicated because of weak labor. At 42 weeks on December 12, 2005 Anna was born.

She wasn’t crying, breathing and during 10 minutes they tried to reanimate her. During the next four days, doctors where fighting for her life and there where almost no chances of survival. Doctors started to prepare my family for the worst case scenario. However, after one week, her condition stabilized, but she stayed for another two weeks in pressure chamber for tube feeding. We’ve been sent hone only in 6 weeks. Some doctors tried to convince to give her up because we are young and she most probably she will be disabled for her entire life.

When Anna was one year old, she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, which occurred as a result of bleeding in the brain, there was atrophy of both cerebral hemispheres. Her head is not growing, and now when she is five years old, she can’t keep her head, sit, hold anything, speak and eats only mashed food. Her head circle is only 45 cm (like in a 10 month old baby). Due to increased muscle tone, she soon developed a scoliosis of the spine, and highly visible deformation of her chest. She must stay during daytime in a hard corset. She has a significant lag in the physical and mental development. Unfortunately you can’t treat Cerebral Palsy with medications and all our financial expenses where useless. Several times Anna underwent rehabilitation courses in different centers, but without any significant changes.

In our case, there only two ways of helping her: introduction of steam cells or stimulation for brain functions. These treatment options are available in Moscow at the medical center KORTEX. Center staff informed us that the invoice and estimates with a list of medical services will be sent to me after March 25, and around July 19th we can start treatment. But unfortunately, treatment is very expensive for us. We need to have 120 Russian rubles (around 3000 euros). We don’t have this amount of money and none of our friend or relatives can help us.

We very much hope that there are good people who will help Anna in its further development, so that she can walk on her own feet on the ground!
