Diagnosis: Congenital heart disease

Letter from parents: «Hello! We are Olga and Andrei Ganchan from Stefan Voda city. Our son Andrian was born on November 18, 2011. The pregnancy was normal. We passed all required tests before the delivery. After his birth, Andrian stayed in Stefan Voda for a week as doctors suspected pneumonia. However, after he got worse he was immediately sent to Kishinev where doctors diagnosed the congenital heart disease (coarctation of the aorta; patent foramen ovale; patent ductus arteriosis; suprasystemic pulmonary hypertension).
It wasn’t possible to transport Andrian to Kiev immediately due to his serious condition. He stayed in Kishinev for a week and was gradually prepared for transportation. Because of the wrong diagnosis in the first place and lost time in Stefan Voda, Andrian did not receive a proper treatment and suffered from the brain hemorrhage. We came to Kiev on January 7, 2012, and had the surgery on the very same day. On January 15, 2012, Andrian had already the second surgery that was quite complicated and perilous.
Our little baby is now recovering. His current weight is 4,500 kg and his height is 57 cm. He feels and eats well. Fortunately, the neurologists didn’t find any complications from the brain hemorrhage. Andrian is growing according to his age and the size of his head is within norm.
On January 30, 2012, Andrian came back home. He will need another surgery at the Ukrainian Children’s Cardiac Center. The cost of surgery is Euro 8,000. Andrei, my husband, travels back and forth to Moscow for occasional jobs and I can’t work as I am sitting home with Andrian. We will be very grateful for your support. Please give our little Andrian a chance to recover!»
