Assistance to pediatric departments of the Institute of Oncology in Moldova

Our organization has steadily been growing over the past years. As we develop, the volume of requests from parents with children on treatment at the local hospitals, as well as hospitals themselves, has rapidly increased. Many of these requests came from the Institute of Oncology in Chisinau, Moldovan capital. To better serve the needs of our community, we decided to open separate fundraising projects to support pediatric departments of the Institute of Oncology. The Institute makes provision of pediatric departments with medicines and medical equipment its highest priority. Nikita Pogorevich, 1 year old

Children are an unlimited joy and dream of every person. My husband and I dreamt of it, but the dream didn’t come true for a long period of time. Over five years we were hoping to thrill… The miracle happened. The days full of immense happiness flowed in expectation of our baby-boy Nikita. December 2, 2011 on the 33 week of pregnancy was born a tiny baby – Nikita Pogorevich, weight 1,330 gr, length 39 cm; and with a diagnosis of cheiloschisis of upper right lip. Annoyance, pain, fear filled our hearts and it seemed that no one except mom and dad believed in his viability. But our sonny appeared to be tough, very demanding, with a great thirst for life. Marina Grigorieva, 17 years old

This is a story of a nice girl Marina Grigorieva, who has a loving mother and good friends, but she has no ability to walk. Marina is 17. The story of her disease started when she was in the 2nd class. Until 8 years she was active, agile and curious child. But after a routine vaccination her health was seriously damaged. Her sight started weakening, and by the end of the year doctors detected partial optic nerve atrophy of both eyes. MRT of head brain didn’t detect any disorder and mutation, the reason of the atrophy wasn’t found. At the age of 10 Marina started to feel tension in her legs’ muscles and tendons, started to develop spastic paraparesis of the lower limbs. Marina started to tiptoe; she stumbled and fell down all the time. MRT re-examination of head brain and lumbosacral spine didn’t detect any pathology. Details…

Average cost of the open heart surgery is about  8,000 USD. Early treatment is crucial. It’s often comes to count the days, and if parents do not have the possibility to pay for the operation, they will lose their child. But in most cases, parents do not the capacity to pay the operation alone. And then the stories of these children appear on our web page.
